Susan Pascal Beran

At various schools, including Stanford University, the Sorbonne in Paris, and Connecticut College, Susan Pascal Beran studied not only art, but linguistics, history, physics, dance, botany, and design. From her late husband, Josef Beran, she learned metal work and engineering. This diverse background has allowed her to create the metaphorically expressive and meditative designs featured in PBS's Healing and the Mind, in Tiffany's, at Lincoln Center, in the Adobe video Communications, at Santa Fe, Palm Springs, and other national sites. Along with numerous private and corporate commissions, the California cities of Oakland, Los Altos, Sunnyvale, Mountain View and San Jose, all have major monumental works.

Commenting on her success she credits "continually integrating for and function" which allows her to evolve, while keeping the designs "pure and powerful...the sculptures are visual metaphors for the way we would like to be in the world " translating "the unpredictable forces of our world into flowing patterns of beauty, harmony and balance".  Pascal Beran's aim in creating her art is to "evoke and respond to the awe-inspiring dynamics of nature in an expanding universe."
