Aggregation - By Ellen Jantzen
The whole is truly greater than the sum of its parts in Ellen Jantzen's "Aggregation." Sprouting like a curious new species, Jantzen's work combines the mystical and the natural, bridging the gap between artist and object, creator and creation. |

In Support of the Children’s Movement
- By Gary Christopherson
Christopherson uses what he has deemed the “moval,” or moving oval, to capture a sense of nurturing change in his work celebrating the efforts of the children’s movement. The kinetic nature of this piece reflects Christopherson’s hope for continued progress in this important arena, while the cupped, egg-like shapes draw attention to the child’s delicacate nature. |

Nest - By Martha Walker
Dark, empty and menacing, Walker's "Nest" turns the comfort of nature's home on its head, creating a work that challenges ideas of function, beauty, and natural order. With its sharp edges and secretive void, "Nest" hardly seems an inviting space; still, Walker creates a sense of intrigue with this work's iconic presence and challenging new perspective. |

Beyond The Monolith
- By Gary Christopherson
Forces drive through and around the monolith in this mobile sculpture,
indicating a higher force with the circle and suggesting that the "whole"
may come from greater power. Cristopherson's (should be Christopherson's)
work is spiritual and tactile, bold yet fluid. |

Kantik - By Casper Patrick
Four clear panes meet in the center of “Kantik,” forming a glowing pyramid structure through which a coil of yellow light magically shoots. Reflecting the solidity of the pyramid, Patrick’s work also gives a nod to the dynamic form of light, which seems embodied in the yellow beam. |

Changes For Square - By Nancy Azara
Azara’s squares call to mind images of ancient carvings or intricate wooden stampers. These four panels echo a variety of changes, including the evolution of the carved block under the artist’s hand and the transformation that occurs as one’s eye shifts from square to square within the series. |

Like a rainbow that has been split along its colorful bows, “Trebista’s” primary hues stand jauntily in space. Boldly formed and vibrantly lit, Patrick’s work artfully enlivens the space with its bright arcs. |

Conversation - By Susan Clinard
Each individual figure in Susan Clinard’s “Conversation” seems to stand alone, individually engaged in a series of interior dialogues. Despite the isolation of the figures, the meticulously carved wooden forms seem to communicate themselves, conversing through their spatial arrangement and unique structures. This work creates tension between interior and exterior, spoken thoughts and that which is left unspoken but nevertheless communicates volumes. |

Knotted - By Susan Clinard
Clinard’s knot is comprised of a swirl of limbs, some hands, others feet, that join together in a bundle of nervous energy to create a swelling ball of movement. Reaching, leaning and pointing out in all directions, “Knotted” depicts the tension of uncertain possibility though an exciting combination of detailed form and unique wood carving. |

Fallen Self Portrait - By Susan Clinard
A far cry from the flattering detail of traditional portraits, Clinard presents a disjointed view of herself, seen lying in shambles in a coffin-like box. Stark and dilapidated, Clinard’s work allows the viewer to see a personal side of herself; a view of one’s fallen identity, seen from a height that allows for understanding and personal contemplation. |

Full Metal Dress - By Vivienne Riggio
Riggio has created armor for the fashionista, melding the corset style with truly confining materials. Darkly intellectual, this work draws attention to the ways in which fashion molds and shapes women's bodies, while simultaneously offering a protective layer to shield these bodies from external harm. In "Full Metal Dress," the body is a battlefield where comfort and practicality face off against the restraints of a futuristic beauty. |

Little Black Dress - By Vivienne Riggio
Playfully poking fun at the ubiquitous all-occasion ensemble, "Little Black Dress" is hardly appropriate for a standard evening out. With its immodest latticework and metal frame, constructed in a pattern more appropriate for silk than for sheeting, Riggio's garment pushes the boundaries of appropriate dress and calls into question notions of normative femininity. |

Bowl of Elindil - By Ben Carpenter
Both dinosaur skulls and garden squash inspire this carved bowl. It can sit as a bowl or stand on its snout. Each spike tip has been burned with a torch to give a faded natural accent. The spikes circumnavigate the body in a changing arc and culminate near the tip. A thin web of natural edge offsets the bowl side of the piece and creates an intricate path through the wonderfully random burl grain. As with most of my work, this piece is pleasurably tactile.

Tartarus - By Ben Carpenter
Images of exotic swimming creatures from an alien world come to mind as I observe this piece. It is also reminiscent of flying spinning seed pods. However much it may appear to be carved from one solid piece of Camphor Burl, Tartarus was crafted from four pieces of wood joined with strong metal dowels. Note the way the grain on the fins appears blurred as if the piece were in motion.
